Five health technology startups graduated from the discovery round of an international health tech accelerator programme.  The five startups from Latvia and Estonia were accelerated from February till September 2013 with the strong help of top level coaches from Denmark, Sweden and Finland. The aim of the programme was to validate the products and business models of the selected startups internationally and to prepare them for investments.

The projects selected to the discovery round from Estonia were a brain rehabilitation company Cognuse www.cognuse.com, biotech product development company Biodiscovery www.biodiscovery.eu and lab data visualisation solution LabToWellness www.labtowellness.com. There were also two teams from Latvia, one with a new stomach cancer diagnostic tool and the other with an improved mix for tachycardia.

Cognuse and LabToWellness managed to get a good focus for entering foreign markets, including agreements with test clients in the target markets. Biodiscovery worked out their strategy and tactics for involving a strategic partner and is very close for the real deal. Both Latvian teams validated important steps in the road of commercialisation.

The first full round of the Accelerace Life Nordic Baltic health tech accelerator will be launched in January 2014 covering also Denmark, Sweden and Finland in addition to Estonia and Latvia.
